The return on investment of these advertisements is really low as compared to the one which are informative. In this war of money and profits, medium and small sized competitors refrain themselves from advertising their products and services.

Does this make advertisements a liability for most of the brands?

I disagree. Advertisement and promotions are an asset and not a liability. The return on investment of each advertisement is a loyal customer who contributes to the growth of the brand. The more personalized advertisement campaigns, the stronger the customer loyalty.

THE POKÉMON GO EXTRAVAGANZA

In 2016, we saw the people walking all over the parks, malls etc. engrossed in their mobile devices trying to spot and capture Pokémon. No question to the fact, the game was an instant success and brought with it the usage of technology called augmented reality. The game has brought in one of the best ways to engage gamers within the game with a wide range of demographics. The game utilized good graphics, their maps from ingress and location-based services to connect users with the story of Pocket Monsters.

For Marketers, location-based advertising has been the buzz word since, 2012. Pokémon go has proven the point that location data can boost online engagement and in-store foot traffic. For example, proximity marketing, help the brands to target customers within the vicinity of the store or a locality. The location-based marketers were compelled to use google maps and other services to connect customers with the stores around. With the use of highly compelling ads and great communication, converting customers has become an effective job.
