Font Type

Type describes Characters and Letterforms. It is the designer’s way to talk. Typography is the way to communicate.

Jargon Buster: Typeface or Font?

Typeface: Describes a whole family of characters, regardless of size or style. They share the same design feature.

Font: A Set of characters that a share a style

Serif: Common features is small extensions (Times Regular, Baskerville, Bodoni, Walbaum)

Sans Serif: Without Extensions (Futura, Helvetica, Myraid Pro)

Script: Typefaces that are directly Hand modelled from medieval scribes (Pristina, Fette Fraktur, Lucida, Alexbrush)

Slab Serif: Originated from Egyptian style, made only to grab attention (Memphis, Rockwell, Din Next Slab)

Display: Used for Large Headings (Banco, COOPER BLACK, GOTHAM, Museo)

Assignment: Design Stationary for your organization or a brand of your liking. You can also create your own brand stationary for yourself. If possible get it printed too :)

Humans react to colors. Emotionally, Situational and with Consistency.

Understanding Color

Colors do not exist in darkness. So lights which travels in waves — gives the color to the world. A object looks a certain color because it absorbs a certain color.

Digital Colors — RGB | Printing Colors — CMYK

Describing Colors:

Hue: Distinguished by Wavelength

Tint: Versions of Hue

Shade: Darker shades to black

Tonal Value: Evenness, Brightness or depth | Halftone & Duotone
